THE ROLE

19 YEARS OF PROTECTING KENT & LONDON.

Event Stewards are the eyes and ears of the event management team. You keep things moving safely, directing guests, managing queues, monitoring crowd areas, and providing helpful information throughout the event.

While not SIA-licensed, stewards play a critical role in event safety. You'll be trained in crowd management, emergency evacuation, and safeguarding, ensuring you can respond quickly and calmly if something goes wrong.

This is one of the best ways to start a career in security. Many of our door supervisors and senior officers began as event stewards, using the role to build experience before gaining their SIA licence through OnnPoint Training.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

FAQs

Do I really not need a SIA license?
Correct. Event Steward roles do not require an SIA licence. You'll need (or be working towards) the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events, but this is a short qualification that we can help you access through OnnPoint Training. If you're not sure where to start, mention this in your application and we'll point you in the right direction.

What kind of events would I work?
We steward a wide range of events across Kent, outdoor festivals and concerts, county shows and fairs, university events, sporting fixtures, Christmas markets, community events and private functions. The variety is one of the best things about the role. We'll match you to events that fit your availability and build your experience gradually.

Is the work regular or just occasional?
Event stewarding tends to be seasonal, busiest in spring and summer during the festival and outdoor events season, but we have events year-round, including Christmas markets, indoor events and university term activity. We'll let you know about upcoming events and you choose the shifts that work for you.

Can I progress from Event Stewarding to a Security Officer?
Absolutely and many of our team have done exactly this. Once you've built experience as a steward, we actively support progression to SIA licensed roles. We can advise you on the right licence for your goals, help you access training through OnnPoint, and give you a reference based on your time with us.

What support will I get before my first shift?
Before every event, all Akon stewards receive a full briefing covering the event layout, their specific duties and position, communication procedures, evacuation routes and the chain of command. You'll always know exactly what you're doing and who to report to. No one goes into an event without being fully prepared.
