You'll be the first employee for the UK subsidiary of a leading sodium-ion battery company headquartered in China, specialising in the research, development, and manufacturing of cathode materials, battery cells, packs, and systems. Key applications include light e-mobility, energy storage systems, industrial and UPS.
Role Purpose
As the company continues to scale globally, we are seeking a Battery Application Engineer to ensure our products meet customer requirements, integrate seamlessly into their systems, and deliver reliable performance in real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical interface for clients and partners across the UK and Europe, providing both pre- and post-sales application support.
- Lead the integration of sodium-ion batteries into customer systems, including scoping requirements, coordinating design, validation and testing with the engineering team in China, and resolving client issues through to product launch.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience in battery application engineering, systems integration, or test/validation for battery systems.
- Strong grasp of battery fundamentals (cell chemistries, pack architecture, thermal management, ageing mechanisms) and power electronics interfaces.
- Hands-on with BMS configuration and diagnostics; familiarity with SOC/SOH algorithms and protection strategies.
- Proficient with communication protocols and tools (CANalyzer/CANoe, Vector tools, serial/RS-485 analysers).
- Good communication skills.
