Business Development & Marketing Manager – Litigation

Working arrangement: 4 days office, 1 day from home

About the Role
My client is a highly regarded international law firm with a strong reputation for advising on complex disputes, investigations, regulatory matters, and international arbitration. As the firm continues to invest in strategic growth, they are seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager to work with their most commercially significant litigation teams.
Working closely with senior partners, the successful candidate will play a visible role in driving client development initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, delivering high-profile pitches, and supporting the continued growth of practices that operate at the forefront of their respective markets.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior lawyers and practice leaders to develop and execute business development initiatives aligned with practice and firm growth objectives.
- Lead the preparation of pitches, proposals, credentials statements, and client presentations, ensuring output is commercially focused, competitive, and tailored to the opportunity.
- Support the identification of new client opportunities, target markets, and growth areas, helping lawyers develop meaningful and sustainable business relationships.
- Use market, client, and industry insight to help shape business development priorities and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
- Work with partners to strengthen existing client relationships, uncover cross-selling opportunities, and encourage collaboration across the firm.
- Deliver research and analysis that supports strategic decision-making, client planning, and pursuit activity.
- Coordinate post-pitch reviews and capture feedback to help refine future business development approaches and improve outcomes.
- Support the development and implementation of practice, sector, and client growth plans.
- Lead and contribute to strategic business development and marketing projects across the wider firm.
- Manage legal directory submissions and awards programs, working closely with partners and fee earners to showcase market-leading work and expertise.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of practice collateral, lawyer biographies, and other profile-raising materials to ensure they accurately reflect the firm's capabilities and market position.
- Collaborate with colleagues across marketing, communications, and events to deliver targeted campaigns, client programs, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Support the planning and execution of client-facing events, roundtables, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen relationships and raise market profile.
- Build strong relationships across the business, ensuring lawyers are able to access the full range of marketing and business development support available.

Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Business Development Manager, Marketing Manager, or Business Development & Marketing Manager within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong experience supporting partners and senior stakeholders on strategic business development initiatives.
- Demonstrable success managing complex pitch, proposal, and presentation processes.
- Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of client development principles.
- Strong research, analytical, and market intelligence capabilities.
- Ability to identify opportunities, develop strategy, and translate insight into action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior lawyers and business leaders.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and solutions-focused approach.
- Collaborative working style with the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
- Experience managing legal directory and ranking submissions would be advantageous.
- Degree educated; advanced qualifications welcomed but not essential.
