My client is a highly regarded international law firm with a strong reputation for advising on complex disputes, investigations, regulatory matters, and international arbitration. As the firm continues to invest in strategic growth, they are seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager to work with their most commercially significant litigation teams.

Working closely with senior partners, the successful candidate will play a visible role in driving client development initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, delivering high-profile pitches, and supporting the continued growth of practices that operate at the forefront of their respective markets.

The firm is recognized for its collaborative and supportive culture, where business development is viewed as a genuine strategic partner to the business. This Business Development & Marketing Manager role offers the opportunity to work with engaged and commercially minded partners who value fresh thinking, welcome new ideas, and are committed to evolving their approach to business development. For an ambitious business development professional looking to make a tangible impact, it presents the chance to influence strategy, shape initiatives, and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior lawyers and practice leaders to develop and execute business development initiatives aligned with practice and firm growth objectives.

  • Support the identification of new client opportunities, target markets, and growth areas, helping lawyers develop meaningful and sustainable business relationships.
  • Use market, client, and industry insight to help shape business development priorities and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
  • Work with partners to strengthen existing client relationships, uncover cross-selling opportunities, and encourage collaboration across the firm.
  • Deliver research and analysis that supports strategic decision-making, client planning, and pursuit activity.
  • Coordinate post-pitch reviews and capture feedback to help refine future business development approaches and improve outcomes.
  • Support the development and implementation of practice, sector, and client growth plans.
  • Lead and contribute to strategic business development and marketing projects across the wider firm.
  • Manage legal directory submissions and awards programs, working closely with partners and fee earners to showcase market-leading work and expertise.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of practice collateral, lawyer biographies, and other profile-raising materials to ensure they accurately reflect the firm's capabilities and market position.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across marketing, communications, and events to deliver targeted campaigns, client programs, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Support the planning and execution of client-facing events, roundtables, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen relationships and raise market profile.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, ensuring lawyers are able to access the full range of marketing and business development support available.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
