Senior Account Manager / Business Development Specialist (Scientific Instruments & Analytical Solutions)
About the Role & Organisation
Our client is a global leader in scientific technology, supplying chromatography & mass spectrometry solutions to laboratories and industries worldwide.
They’re expanding their team and are seeking an **ambitious, commercially driven Account Manager / Business Development Specialist to lead the sale of their analytical instruments, including:
- HPLC
- GC (Gas Chromatography)
- GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)
- LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry)
- UV/Vis (Spectroscopy)
- FT-IR (Infrared Spectroscopy)
- TOC (Total Organic Carbon Analysers)
- Elemental Analysers
- Consumables
- Software
- Analytical service contracts
This role is ideal for a determined sales professional who thrives in technical, consultative environments—someone who enjoys engaging with scientific stakeholders, solving complex challenges, and building long-term relationships based on trust and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Management: Lead existing client relationships, ensuring retention and upselling opportunities.
- New Business Development: Identify, engage, and convert new business opportunities in the scientific and industrial sectors.
- Technical Sales & Consultation: Understand technical challenges facing labs and industries, then advise on tailored solutions (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, spectroscopy setups).
- Technical & Commercial Awareness: Stay up-to-date with industry trends (e.g., CAPEX investments, multi-vendor comparisons) to position the client’s offerings effectively.
- Target Achievement: Meet and exceed sales targets for instruments, consumables, and services.
- Customer Engagement: Present and negotiate deals with senior technical and commercial stakeholders.

Essential Requirements
✅ Education & Qualifications
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., analytical chemistry, biochemistry, materials science).
✅ Sales & Technical Experience
- Proven sales experience in scientific instrumentation, with a preference for candidates familiar with HPLC, LC-MS, Gas Chromatography, or Mass Spectrometry.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge technical gaps—engaging with scientists while aligning solutions to business needs.
- Strong account management skills, with experience in identifying and converting business opportunities.
✅ Soft Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication, with the ability to build rapport with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Consultative selling approach, valuing relationships over short-term transactions.
- Pride in delivering high-quality service and achieving personal and team goals.
