About the Role
ACCEL Schools is seeking a dedicated Behavior Intervention Specialist at Sheffield Academy to create a supportive, rigorous learning environment that fosters student success—both academically and socially-emotionally. This role involves:
- Providing targeted behavioral support for at-risk students facing disciplinary or attendance challenges
- Developing classroom and school-wide behavioral interventions to cultivate a positive (and inclusive) school culture
- Acting as a trusted advisor for IEP teams, parents, and administrators to address student needs
Key Responsibilities
The Behavior Intervention Specialist will:
- Collaborate with students on individualized behavioral tracks, supporting interventions and developing plans
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), design function-based interventions, and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Lead IEP teams and build partnerships with students, parents, and staff requiring intervention
- Assist with crisis intervention, addressing collaboration, motivational, and developmental challenges
- Serve as a key consultant to support positive behavioral solutions across the school community
- Monitor student attendance and develop Absence Intervention Plans
- Maintain engagement with school-wide initiatives and promote positive reinforcement (e.g., event participation, teamwork, student liaising)
- Uphold accurate record-keeping and documentation in line with school policies

Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, health-related fields, or a related discipline (preferred)
- An Intervention Specialist license (highly preferred)
- Three years or more of experience supporting students with behavioral challenges—whether in tutoring, mentoring, social work, or teaching—especially in diverse, multicultural settings
- A commitment to trust-building with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and tact in sensitive situations
- Ability to remain composed under stressful conditions
- Competency with Microsoft Office products
- Willingness to pass a federal, state, and local background check

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 annual
