Behavioral Scientist – Talent Insights and Analytics

The Opportunity
The Behavioral Scientist will utilise advanced behavioural science, psychometrics, and quantitative/qualitative research methods to design, analyse, and interpret complex talent and employee experience data.
This role is essential for developing scientifically rigorous insights to inform strategic talent decisions, workforce interventions, and organisational effectiveness initiatives. Deep expertise in organisational research methodology, predictive and prescriptive modelling, and statistical programming is required.
As part of Talent Insights and Analytics, alongside Employee Listening and leadership, this role drives excellence by embedding strong scientific standards, scalable frameworks, and advanced modelling into decision-making.
Essential Responsibilities
Organisations Research Design & Conduct
- Design and lead quantitative organisational research with experimental, quasi-experimental, and longitudinal approaches.
- Analysise complex data sets (surveys, employee listening, experience, and talent data) using SQL, R, and/or Python.
- Apply advanced statistical modelling (regression, multilevel models, machine learning, optimisation techniques) to solve key talent challenges.
Psychometrics & Measurement
- Develop and validate psychometric scales, assess reliability/validity strategies, and conduct invariance testing.
Data Integration & Insights
- Merge diverse data sources for holistic analytics with clear, credible outcomes.
- Translate sophisticated research findings into practical, stakeholder-facing recommendations.
Talent Interventions & Evaluation
- Support design of talent intervention strategies.
- Define success metrics, analytic approaches, and evidence for measurable impact.
Analytical Rigour & Frameworks
- Standardise research and analytics frameworks for scalability.
- Partner with IT/data teams and vendors for seamless data access.

Supervision & Collaboration
- Lead subject-matter expertise in talent analytics.
- Coach colleagues on methodology, communication, and interpretation.
- Collaborate with multinational teams through evidence-based credibility.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Core Expertise
- PhD (required) in Industrial/Occupational Psychology, Behavioural Science, or relevant quantitative fields (e.g. Organisational Psychology, Statistics).
- Note: Candidates with a Master’s degree plus extensive applied research experience may be considered.
- Advanced expertise in research design, causality, and cross-level modelling.
Psychometric & Technical Proficiency
- Sound knowledge of scale development, validation, test theory.
- Technical global: SQL – R/Python for data manipulation, predictive, and prescriptive analytics (machine learning, NLP, etc.).
Communication & Contextual Understanding
- Strong data storytelling for internal/global audiences.
- Domestic and international collaboration experience.
- Cross-functional diplomacy (HR/Talent/Biz) with enterprise scale.
Flexibility & Leadership
- High tolerance for ambiguity; thrive in innovation-driven environments.
- English language fluency (written/verbal).

Certification Preference
- Active eligible membership in academic/professional IO/Psych/Analytics communities (not mandatory).
Experience
Essential
- Actionable organisational research in consulting or applied settings.
- Measurable experience with large-scale employee data testing.
- Direct evidence linking data science to tactical/business changes.
- Global team collaboration experience (electronic/hybrid).
- Relationships with data science/engineering teams to effect change.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
North America Annual Base Salary Range (US local laws)
- Other locales: Reference applicable local/regional compensation structure.
- $92,600 – $173,100
- New York Metro/Washington/California: $111,100 – $188,900
