Role: Contract position
Location: Balham, London School: Successful and inclusive secondary school for pupils aged 11–19 with strong academic achievement and creative focus Pupil population: ~1,320 students, including 20% receiving SEN support and 5.7% with EHCPs
About the Role Ribbons & Reeves are recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to support a dedicated pastoral team in Balham, helping create a supportive learning environment for pupils at all stages of their development.
Initially a contract role, the position offers:
- Wage: £110–£120 per day (depending on experience)
- Core focus: Emotional, social, and behavioural development
- Reputation of the school: Consistently high academic performance, including an Attainment 8 score of 55.1, with 63.5% of pupils achieving Grade 5+ in English and Maths

Key Responsibilities
The Behaviour Mentor will:
- Provide one-to-one support for pupils who require behavioural interventions, helping improve engagement, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Collaborate on behaviour strategies and interventions, contributing to a consistent, inclusive school ethos
- Assist with safeguarding and pupil wellbeing initiatives, including building trust with families and colleagues
- Support a safe, nurturing environment where every learner—regardless of background—can thrive
- Engage in teamwork with teachers, mentors, and support staff to shape pupil progress
Candidate Requirements
Essential Skills & Qualities
-Strong, clear communication skills to mediate constructively with pupils, staff, and families -Experience or passion for youth work, education, or pastoral care -A calm, resilient, and proactive approach to conflict resolution -Ability to build positive relationships quickly and maintain trust -Basic understanding of behaviour management techniques (desirable)
Desirable Experience
- Previous roles in pastoral care, behaviour-focused support, or mentorship (SEN-focused roles particularly welcomed)
- Familiarity with inclusive or special education practices
- Willingness to develop specialist skills in mental health awareness and safeguarding
