This position is based from our Warwick office, however, we offer flexible hybrid working options.
As a Behaviour Safety Manager, this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of health, safety, and wellbeing across NGET at a time of unprecedented growth and transformation. You will help create a culture where people are empowered to speak up, learn, innovate, and perform safely, enabling us to deliver the critical infrastructure required for Britain's clean energy future.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, you will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding a positive, learning-focused, and psychologically safe culture across NGET. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the NGET Safe & Well Strategy, ensuring it is fully integrated into our ways of working and underpinned by Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence behaviours, leadership, organisational learning, and operational excellence at scale, helping to create an environment where everyone feels safe to stop, safe to say, safe to learn, and empowered to make safe choices.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the NGET Safe & Well Strategy.
- Embed Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles across NGET, supporting a shift towards a proactive learning culture.
- Develop and deliver behavioural safety, safety leadership, and cultural improvement programmes aligned with National Grid's Safe & Well framework.
- Work with senior leaders, operational teams, and contractors to strengthen psychological safety, organisational learning, and workforce engagement.
- Develop meaningful measures and insights to assess safety culture maturity and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead cultural diagnostics, surveys, workshops, and engagement activities to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Champion a just and fair culture approach, ensuring learning is prioritised over blame.
- Support the application of HOP principles within incident investigation, learning reviews, and shared learning processes.
- Partner with business leaders and contractors to create sustainable improvements in safety performance and organisational effectiveness.
- Represent NGET internally and externally on behavioural safety, culture, and HOP-related initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
