Behaviour Specialist

Behaviour Specialist – SEND Outreach Service

Salary & Contract

  • Salary range: £40,182 – £42,060 (with London weighting pro rata)
  • Contract: 36 Month Fixed Term (end date: 31st March 2029)
  • Hours: 36 hours FTE, Term-Time Working (39 weeks)
  • Location: Brent Civic Centre, plus other locations as required

This opportunity invites passionate, reflective professionals committed to:

You will play a vital role in overcoming barriers to learning, increasing engagement with education, and fostering long-term positive outcomes for pupils.


Key Responsibilities

As a Behaviour Specialist, you will:

  • Manage a caseload of pupils and deliver targeted behavioural and emotional support interventions
  • Collaborate with schools, families, and multi-agency partners to improve inclusive strategies
  • Develop and implement personalised support programmes for pupils at risk of exclusion
  • Support reintegration into mainstream education following absences or alternative provision
  • Provide one-to-one mentoring for vulnerable pupils
  • Contribute to training and professional development for school staff on behaviour support strategies
  • Monitor progress, evaluate interventions, and maintain accurate records
  • Offer flexible wraparound support for complex cases to ensure success

Requirements: The Person We’re Looking For

We seek a resilient, empathetic, and proactive practitioner with:

  • A relevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in child development/behaviour, or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Proven experience working with SEBD (Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties), including at-risk-of-exclusion strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively within schools, communities, and across multi-agency partners
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trusting relationships
  • Expertise in planning and delivering targeted interventions to facilitate behaviour change and engagement
  • A calming presence under pressure when handling challenging situations
  • Strong organisational skills to manage diverse caseloads effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and vulnerable children/young people’s welfare
  • Flexibility, problem-solving ability, and ability to work collaboratively in a team
