Job Opportunity at Southwark CAMHS
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Southwark CAMHS. This is a full-time fixed term post, to cover maternity leave, for a Behavioural Support Practitioner working across two teams within Southwark CAMHS, CAMHS Enhanced Intervention Service (CEIS) and the Neurodevelopmental Service (NDS). The Neurodevelopmental Service is a tier 3 CAMHS service which provides assessment and intervention for the behavioural and mental health needs of neurodivergent children. CEIS is an innovative team which provides an intensive level of intervention and support to children with autism and/or learning disability, and their families, who present with behaviours which challenge, where there is a significant risk of placement breakdown. CEIS is a joint partnership between the All Age Disability (AAD) Service (Southwark Council) and NDS. CEIS employs a Positive Behaviour Supports framework for the delivery of support to young people and their families, as well as drawing on multi-disciplinary input from within the team and from AAD and NDS. As such this role offers rich opportunities for delivering high quality PBS while also incorporating and learning from other theoretical approaches and interventions. Both teams employ a trauma informed approach, and are fully committed to employing a neuroaffirmative perspective which prioritises the lived experience and quality of life of the young people and families under its care.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- To provide applied behavioural assessment and intervention for children and young people (CYP) who present behaviour that challenges services and poses a high level of risk to their well-being, and the stability of their placement (i.e. home or school), including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- To employ the principles of Positive Behaviour Support in all aspects of clinical work.
- To contribute to the development of the CEIS team, including treatment pathways and interventions, developing partnerships with other agencies, and other aspects of governance.
- To participate in strengthening local services and developing capable environments through training, consultation and modelling.
- To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.
- To participate in service evaluation, audit and research.
- To work as an autonomous professional within professional and Trust guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.
- To plan and facilitate staff training and teaching, and presentations as appropriate.

- Specialist external supervision is provided by a UKBA (cert).
