The Building Energy Management Systems Engineer will ensure the optimal and reliable performance of Building Management Systems (BMS), energy-related systems, and critical building services across Bank of America's London estate. The role combines technical monitoring, fault resolution, reliability reporting, energy performance optimisation, and support for environmental compliance—helping CBRE deliver a safe, efficient, resilient and sustainable workplace experience.

What you'll do

  • Monitor, operate and optimise BEMS systems, ensuring environmental conditions always meet CBRE & Client-specified parameters.

  • Produce monthly equipment reliability reports and trend analysis.
  • Predictive failure analysis of critical equipment.
  • Analyse graphical data, trends, and alarms to diagnose plant faults and system inefficiencies.
  • Track energy usage and environmental conditions (temperature, CO₂, humidity, etc.) using BMS and supporting digital platforms.
  • Lead and identify energy-reduction initiatives by recommending and implementing plant optimisation strategies.
  • Reporting of data centre energy efficiency and critical system reliability.
  • Work closely with CBRE and client sustainability teams to improve building energy performance and support NetZero initiative.
  • Physically conduct routine inspections, calibration of field devices, preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on BMS-connected building services and plant.
  • Physically assist mechanical and electrical teams to diagnose faults on HVAC, electrical, and building services systems.
  • Providing and participating in audit and compliance reports.
  • Ensure all reactive and planned maintenance tasks are recorded accurately within the CBRE system.
  • Produce weekly and ad-hoc reports detailing anomalies, environmental events, energy trends, and system performance.
  • Weekly and monthly meter readings/reports and monitoring & analysis of energy use.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual KPIs, SLAs, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with client representatives, CBRE colleagues, subcontractors and data analysts.
  • Carry out hands-on repairs/replacements to building services equipment, including Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes and Fan Coil Units (FCUs), which will involve accessing ceiling voids, climbing ladders, working at height, and handling tools and equipment. Physically capable of lifting 25kgs.
  • Arrange and oversee all BEMS-related Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities and reactive callouts, ensuring tasks are scheduled, delivered, and recorded in line with CBRE and client standards. This includes working closely with specialist BEMS contractors, coordinating access, supporting their investigations, and ensuring all remedial actions are completed to a high technical standard.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
