The National Patient Safety Team is seeking an experienced and strategic programme leader

Role Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Patient Safety (Digital), you will play a key role in shaping and delivering Scan4Safety work that sits at the intersection of patient safety, digital transformation and clinical innovation. Working closely with national partners including DHSC, NHS Supply Chain, GS1 UK and the MHRA, you will help drive the adoption of standards, processes and technologies that support safer care, improved traceability and stronger system-wide learning.

  • Supporting the strategic development and delivery of the national Scan4Safety development.
  • Working with national partners to support the adoption of digital identification and traceability standards.
  • Developing evidence, evaluation and assurance approaches that demonstrate the patient safety impact of Scan4Safety.

  • Promoting the use of data, standards and technology to improve patient safety, quality of care and operational effectiveness.
  • Identifying and sharing learning, innovation and best practice across the health and care system.
  • Providing strategic advice and briefings to senior stakeholders on patient safety, digital transformation and programme delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In March 2025, the Government announced that NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care will increasingly merge functions, ultimately leading to NHS England being fully integrated into the department.

Recruitment Details

If you currently work within the NHS and if successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the process.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

We cannot offer visa sponsorship for any vacancies.
