Job Summary
The Benefits Analyst supports the design, administration, analysis, and ongoing optimization of employee benefit programs. This multidimensional role involves collaboration with HR, Finance, vendors, brokers, and employees to ensure benefits are accurate, compliant, and tailored to enhance employee experience.
Orgs: Benefits & Total Rewards | Salary Range: $69,035.20 – $115,065.60
Requirements
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Master’s Degree in a related field (preferred)
Minimum Work Experience
- 2+ years of related HR/Data/Finance experience (with 1+ year in direct compensation/payroll administration)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and applicable regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.)
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex benefit data
- Proficiency with HRIS, benefits administration platforms (e.g., SP5200, BDO, BLOOM, Vela, OmniComp)
- Excel proficiency (regular data processing, trends analysis, and visualization)
- Clear, concise written and verbal communications to explain benefits to diverse employee populations
- High level of attention to detail for compliance and financial accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting union and non-union populations
- CEBS or similar employee benefit certification
- Experience in clinical or healthcare benefits administration

Key Responsibilities
Core Functional Duties

Manage day-to-day administration of benefit programs:
- Medical, dental, vision benefits
- Life insurance and retirement plans
- Tuition reimbursement, leave programs, and invoicing

Data-Driven Optimization
- Analyze benefits usage, costs, trends, and performance
- Recommend enhancements or cost-saving strategies
- Conduct benchmarking and market analysis to maintain competitive benefits
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Regulatory filings and required disclosures (e.g., Summary Plan Descriptions, Civil Rights Posters)
Employee Engagement
- Lead annual open enrollment processes:
- Strategic planning, vendor coordination, and clear communication materials
- Address employee inquiries (eligibility, coverage, claims) and resolve escalations
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with payroll, finance, legal, and HRIS teams
- Liaise with brokers, third-party administrators, and insurance providers
Additional Tasks
- Prepare benefits-related reporting and disclosures
- Assist in communication tailored to different employee segments (clinical staff, 24/7 teams)
- Conform benefits policy to competitive market practices
