Job Description The UK & Ireland Benefits Consultant reports to the EMEA Head of Benefits, with a day-to-day line to the UK & Ireland Benefits Lead. The role sits within the EMEA Compensation & Benefits team, focused on benefits design strategy, governance, and alignment with regional and global standards. Operating within a highly matrixed environment, the role requires strong accountability, independent judgement, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. The scope of the role includes: Oversight of the UK & Ireland benefits design and governance frameworks Alignment to broader EMEA benefits strategy and global standards Partnership with global and regional benefits and service delivery teams The team operates in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment requiring strong accountability, independent judgement and stakeholder influence at senior levels. This role has direct exposure to senior HR and functional leadership and plays a key role in shaping programme design, governance standards and employee outcomes. Responsibilities: Drive and deliver the design and governance of UK and Ireland benefits programmes, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s strategic objectives and risk framework. The role is accountable for ensuring programmes are competitive, compliant and operationally robust. Define and maintain benefits design frameworks and policies, including eligibility rules, programme structures and governance standards, ensuring consistency, clarity and strong control across all programmes. Lead the design and enhancement of key benefits, independently developing solutions that balance employee value, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance and operational feasibility. Establish and maintain robust governance and oversight processes, ensuring all benefits programmes operate within the internal processes and controls, with clear documentation, audit trails and decision transparency. Interpret legislative and regulatory developments impacting UK and Ireland benefits and take accountability for translating these into design changes, governance updates and implementation plans. Own key vendor relationships from a design and governance perspective, including selection input, performance oversight and challenge, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed service, cost and quality expectations. Partner with Benefits Service Delivery and HR Operations to ensure effective implementation of programmes, proactively identifying and resolving gaps between design intent and delivery execution. Develop and own reporting and insights for UK and Ireland benefits, using data to assess programme effectiveness, identify risks and opportunities, and inform strategic decision-making. Act as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders across HR, Finance, Legal and business leadership, providing clear recommendations and influencing outcomes on benefits strategy and design decisions. Lead the development of benefits communication approaches, ensuring programmes are clearly articulated and accessible to employees, driving understanding, engagement and utilisation. Drive continuous improvement across benefits design and governance, identifying opportunities to enhance programme effectiveness, simplify processes and strengthen alignment with market practice and internal standards. Skills that will help (Optional): Demonstratable experience in Benefits, within a complex, matrixed organisation, with clear accountability for benefits design, governance and programme outcomes rather than operational delivery alone. Robust understanding of UK and Ireland benefits frameworks, including legislative, regulatory and tax considerations, and the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world design and governance decisions. Proven ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy within structured governance frameworks, exercising sound judgement to balance risk, cost, employee outcomes and reputational considerations. Experience working with external vendors and advisers, including the ability to challenge, influence and hold providers accountable for performance, service quality and value delivery. Stakeholder management and influencing capability, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and driving alignment across multiple functions within a complex organisational environment. Highly developed analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify key insights and translate these into clear, strategic recommendations. Well defined execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver to a high standard and maintain attention to detail within a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex benefits concepts, influence decision-making and produce high-quality written materials such as policies, governance papers and communications. Demonstrated ownership and accountability, with a proactive approach and the confidence to lead initiatives and make decisions within defined authority. Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills, with the ability to develop structured, insightful materials for senior stakeholder engagement and governance forums.
