Bereavement Services Co-ordinator

Join our dedicated team at Edinburgh Hospice as a Bereavement Services Co-ordinator, where you'll play a vital role in helping people navigate their grief journey. What you will be doing:
In this rewarding role, you will:
- Coordinate referrals, undertaking initial assessments and triage, and ensuring people receive the most appropriate support for their needs.
- Manage waiting lists, caseloads and service allocations to ensure timely access to bereavement support.
- Facilitate bereavement support groups and coordinating the staff and volunteers who help deliver these services.
- Manage recruiting, training, supervising and supporting volunteers, ensuring they feel confident, safe and valued in their role.
- Provide compassionate bereavement support to individuals and families through face-to-face sessions, telephone calls, video appointments and support groups.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure families receive information, guidance and support following bereavement.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to bereaved individuals and identifying when additional specialist support or external referrals may be required.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals and community organisations to provide a joined-up approach to bereavement care.
- Coordinate bereavement-related events and encouraging participation from staff, volunteers and the wider community.
- Maintain accurate records, managing service administration and ensuring all activity meets Marie Curie policies and professional standards.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and supporting the wider priorities and objectives of Marie Curie.

What we’re looking for:
- A recognised counselling qualification (DipHE, Foundation Degree in Counselling, or equivalent).
- Professional membership of BACP, IABACP, or another recognised counselling/psychotherapy body.
- Experience supporting people affected by bereavement, loss, or end-of-life issues.
- The ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, volunteers and external partners.
- Excellent organisational skills, with experience managing referrals and caseloads.
