The position
We are expanding our Advisory Services team within Asset Management and are looking for an engineer with early-career consultancy experience who wants to work across the full lifecycle of battery storage projects.
This is a client-facing technical role suited to engineers who enjoy combining technical analysis, commercial awareness and project delivery.
You will work with investors, developers and asset owners across BESS projects in the UK and Europe, supporting activities such as technical due diligence, Owner’s Engineer roles and advisory mandates.

- Delivering Technical Due Diligence and Owner’s Engineer assignments
- Supporting project development and construction monitoring
- Reviewing BESS system design, EPC contracts and technical documentation
- Supporting financial close technical reviews for investors and lenders
- Conducting site visits and technical assessments
- Preparing clear technical reports and presentations for clients
- Managing project scope, timelines and budgets for advisory assignments
You will also support the growth of RES’ advisory offering by working closely with asset management, business development and operations teams.
Who This Role Suits
This role is ideal for engineers with strong experience who want to move further into technical consulting and client advisory within the energy storage sector.
You may currently work in:
- A renewables consultancy
- Owner’s Engineer / Lenders Engineer team
- BESS developer or EPC technical team
- Engineering consultancy supporting renewable infrastructure
Key Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience with:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or renewable energy projects
- Technical due diligence, owner’s engineer or technical advisory work
- Reviewing technical designs, contracts and project documentation
- Client-facing technical reporting
- Project lifecycle exposure (development → construction → operations)

Skills
- Strong technical writing and reporting ability
- Commercial awareness of infrastructure projects
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to travel for site visits
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience in renewable energy, storage or infrastructure consulting
- Valid UK driving licence
