BESS Project Manager
Project Manager | Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage | UK
An established renewable energy developer and long-term asset owner is seeking a Project Manager to support the delivery of its growing portfolio of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across the UK.
The Role
The ideal candidate will oversee major projects from Notice to Proceed through to commercial operation, collaborating with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners to ensure:
- Safe, on-programme, and cost-effective delivery through construction, commissioning, and handover
- Effective EPC contractor, Owner’s Engineer, consultant, and supply chain partner management
- Program, cost, quality, and risk monitoring, ensuring milestones are met
- Technical, commercial, and contractual alignment between internal teams and external stakeholders
- Leadership of project meetings, progress reporting, and governance activities
- Oversight of construction activities, site progress, and commissioning programs
- Compliance with CDM regulations, HSE standards, and company governance requirements
- Support for procurement, contract management, and change control throughout the lifecycle
- Smooth transition into asset operation in collaboration with development, engineering, and operations teams

About You
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Extensive experience delivering utility-scale energy or infrastructure projects, preferably in Battery Energy Storage, Solar PV, or power infrastructure
- Strong skills in contractor management and stakeholder coordination
- Relevant experience in client-side, EPC, principal contractor, or Owner’s Engineer roles
- Deep understanding of construction delivery, commissioning, and project controls
- Familiarity with CDM regulations and UK construction health & safety requirements
- Commercial awareness, including budget management, contract performance, and programme delivery
- A degree in engineering or construction-related field (preferred), alongside APM, PMP, or equivalent recognition (viewed favourably)

Package
- Basic salary: £90,000 – £100,000
- Performance bonus: Up to 50%
- Work arrangement: Hybrid
