Senior RGN Role – Maternity Support – ROYAL VICTORIA HOSPITAL

About the Role

We are seeking a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with specialist experience in maternity care to support our team at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

This role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment, contributing to the healthcare of families during this vital time.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and high-quality maternity care, ensuring the safe delivery of neonatal and obstetric services
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, including midwives, obstetricians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, within legal and professional frameworks
  • Adhere to NHS standards, protocols, and best practice guidelines in maternity and neonatal care
  • Support women and their families through all stages of labour, birth, and the immediate postnatal period
  • Implement patient safety practices, including infection control and multidisciplinary liaison
  • Promote patient empowerment, offering advice, teaching, and support on maternal and neonatal health
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in line with regulatory requirements
  • Participate in clinical audits, research, and clinical governance to improve service standards
  • Foster a culture of continuous professional development, updating knowledge and skills in modern maternity practice

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Valid证明 (or equivalent) for practising in the UK, if applicable
  • Specialist experience in maternity nursing is essential
  • Proven ability to work in a pressure-proof environment with prioritisation skills
  • Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including obstetricians and midwives
  • Commitment to professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge
  • Willingness to adhere to NHS values and professional standards

Bonus Considerations

  • Experience in delivering emergency and high-risk maternity care
  • Familiarity with immediate postnatal and neonatal units
  • Ability to support interdisciplinary training and education efforts
  • Strong communication and cultural sensitivity to support diverse patient needs
