Data & Business Intelligence Analyst

London, 2 days in the office | 12-month Fixed-Term Contract | Salary up to £56,174

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible Data and Business Intelligence role where you will shape reporting, analytics and data governance across a complex organisation. Sitting at the intersection of business and technology, this role offers real influence over how data is defined, trusted and used to support decision-making and regulatory outcomes.

The Company

They are a large, mission-led organisation operating in a regulated environment, with a strong focus on public accountability and data-driven decision making. Data plays a critical role across the organisation, supporting operational performance, strategic initiatives and external reporting. The Data and Analytics function is central to improving data quality, governance and insight at scale.

The Role

As a Data and Business Intelligence Analyst, you will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their data and reporting needs and translate them into robust analytics solutions. You will partner with technical teams to ensure data is well modelled, governed and fit for purpose.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering, analysing and documenting business and technical requirements across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Delivering datasets, reports and analytical outputs to support internal and external reporting
  • Designing and developing dashboards and visualisations using Power BI
  • Supporting data governance activities including data dictionaries, business glossaries, metadata and KPI definitions
  • Leading and contributing to current-state and future-state data modelling initiatives
  • Working with Data Owners and Data Stewards to identify, analyse and resolve data quality issues
  • Supporting ETL, data migration, data mapping, data cleansing and orchestration activities
  • Performing testing, quality assurance and User Acceptance Testing
  • Contributing to regulatory reporting and broader data and transformation programmes

Your Skills & Experience

  • Strong SQL and data querying capability
  • Proven experience building Power BI dashboards and reports, including DAX for calculated measures
  • Solid understanding of data modelling techniques such as star and snowflake schemas
  • Experience working with ETL processes and data integration
  • Confidence applying descriptive statistics and analytical techniques
  • Strong background in requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries, business glossaries and metadata documentation
  • Comfortable working in governance-focused or regulated environments
