Job Description
We are looking for a Bibliographic Metadata Assistant to join our exciting team on a 7-month fixed-term contract.
You will be the key point of contact for assistance within the Bibliographic Metadata Operations team, with primary responsibility for supporting the Bibliographic Metadata Coordinators with their divisional scheduling, reports, metadata enrichment and cleansing tasks, as well as support for the rest of the wider Bibliographic Metadata & ONIX team where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the rest of the Bibliographic team to manage the central Bibliographic inbox. Respond quickly and accurately to enquiries within our SLA.
- Run vigorous regular cross-divisional checks and comprehensive operational reports guaranteeing title metadata is complete and accurate and there are no gaps in our checking processes.
- Converse with the Bibliographic coordinators and other members of the department to take on tasks normally performed by them, either to free up their time or to provide cover in times of absence.
- Step in to help with large new title requests, primarily from PRH Children’s and PRH Audio divisions.
- Taking minutes at the weekly team meeting and circulating.
- Carry out regular tasks in conjunction with the coordinators such as weekly reports to the business.
- Developing working relationships with colleagues across the business: the editorial teams primarily, and others including production, inventory, sales.
What you’ll bring
Essential criteria:
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, in email, phone and in person
- Strong organisational skills
- Willingness to learn about the Biblio3 system and become highly skilled
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to process large quantities of bibliographic data
- Ability to prioritise and manage time and duties effectively both independently and collectively as a member of the team
- Publishing experience is not required, however, a passion for metadata and the world of books would be advantageous
- Comfortable working independently and able to be resourceful
- Ability to be confident in asking for help and flagging issues
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people both internally and externally

Salary
£29,000 plus benefits.
Hybrid working
While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect the successful candidate to work from our London-based office a minimum of two days per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and offer the remaining three days to be worked remotely.
