Do you have experience working within Precision Engineering? (CNC Machining) Have you got previous experience estimating and preparing proposals within the precision engineering field? If so then please read on.
Role: Bid Engineer / Proposals Engineer / Estimator – Aerospace department
Location: Derby – 2/3 days in the office
Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 1pm
Role: Permanent
Holidays and Benefits: Pension, 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays + Xmas shut down, BUPA health care, free onsite parking.
Overview:
Working within a first-class precision engineering business that manufacture components with methods such as CNC Machining, Sheet metal and Fabrication, we now require a Bid Engineer to join the team.
Responsible for leading the estimating process for new business opportunities, particularly - preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and competitive proposals. The role involves analysing customer requirements and technical data, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and Strategic Sourcing teams, and engaging with machine tool and cutting tool suppliers to determine manufacturing solutions and investment needs.

Key responsibilities include presenting bids to customers, explaining costing methodologies, supporting the development of best-practice estimating processes, handing over successful projects to the Programmes team, and regularly reviewing sales and estimating activities with the Business Development team.
The ideal candidate Bid Engineer may have some of the following, however, please note these are only desirable and not essential as all applications will be looked at individually:

- Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment that manufacture and assemble components using precision engineering techniques such as CNC Machining
- A strong understanding of the Aerospace sector desirable
- Experience in bid preparation, estimating, cost modelling, and financial analysis
- Knowledge of the aerostructures and manufacturing sectors, including materials, machining and assembly processes, productivity factors, and resource planning.
