The Opportunity
We are excited to recruit a Bid Manager to join our Stockton office.
As Bid Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire bid process. This includes tracking bid approvals, ensuring all technical submissions are accurate, competitive, and aligned to customer requirements while adhering to project deadlines.
You will receive personalised on-the-job training, mentoring, and regular performance reviews to support your development and maintain high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Bid and Technical Submission Management:
- Ensure all bids meet technical requirements while aligning costs with strategy, schedules, and customer objectives.
- Maintain an updated bids pipeline for management reporting, tracking KPIs and metrics.

Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with the Sales team to align opportunities with company strategy and customer expectations.
- Engage with internal departments to ensure accurate information is collated for bids, ensuring award-worthy proposals.
- Take ownership of all bid submissions to guarantee process adherence, accuracy, and quality.

Documentation and Compliance:
- Manage bid folder structures, ensuring all information is correctly stored.
- Conduct regular audits of bid processes to ensure compliance with internal rules and external requirements.
- Ensure all proposals meet client, regulatory, and H&S (Health & Safety) standards.

Financial and Strategic Review:
- Review bid costs to ensure diligence and competitiveness.
- Liaise with purchasing teams to log pricing changes and ensure cost-efficiency.
- Analyse bid opportunities, market requirements, and sales expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Present bid opportunities to management for approvals and strategic adjustments.
- Act as the client-facing representative with technical presentations leading to award submissions.

Operational Excellence:
- Monitor bid velocity, accuracy, and time management across opportunities.
- Track win rates and targets weekly/monthly, highlighting opportunities for improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: Degree or HNC in a technical or engineering discipline.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy engineering and related costing mechanisms.
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials for cost validation.
- Proven experience in tender submission portals and bid response testing.
- Expertise in technical tender creation and bid writing.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
- High organisational skills to manage multiple bids and inefficient deadlines.
- Experience working cross-functionally with bids, sales, and projects teams.
- Additional Experience:
- Prior involvement in tender submissions within similar industries.
- Miscellaneous:
- Willingness to travel for client meetings.
- Completion of required company induction to the role.
