Job Title: Bid Manager
Role Overview
Location: Home-based with occasional attendance at HCML offices (Manchester, Croydon, or Tewkesbury) Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum Status: Permanent Working Hours: Full-time, Mon–Fri (37.5 hours/week)

About the Role
We seek an experienced and driven Bid Manager to join our Commercial team. This role combines bid writing expertise and project management skills, ensuring submissions are comprehensive, compliant, and delivered at pace.
Purpose
The Bid Manager will own the end-to-end bid lifecycle, coordinating development, execution, and submission of high-quality tenders within a collaborative, dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Management & Delivery
- Lead the full bid lifecycle from opportunity qualification through to submission and post-submission activities.
- Develop and manage bid plans, establishing clear timelines, responsibilities, and governance.
- Drive bid progression, ensuring all inputs are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
Content Development & Writing
- Write, edit, and refine persuasive, high-quality tender responses.
- Translate complex healthcare delivery models into clear, engaging content.
- Maintain a consistent narrative aligned to client requirements and evaluation criteria.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Working
- Work collaboratively with the Commercial function, supporting bids across various multidisciplinary teams.
- Coordinate input from clinical, operational, finance, and subject matter experts.
- Support cross-functional bids across HCML, offering writing and bid management assistance where needed.

Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all bids meet tender documentation and submission requirements.
- Maintain rigorous quality standards, including proofreading, formatting, and version control.
- Manage bid documentation to ensure submission readiness at all stages.
Submission & Coordination
- Lead submissions for PQQs, ITTs, RFPs, and framework applications.
- Address and manage clarification questions during the tender process.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all supporting documentation and adherence to deadlines.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to bid library development, creating reusable content and best practices.
- Support lessons-learned reviews and feedback sessions to enhance bid quality and win rates.
Key Objectives
- Deliver high-quality, compliant, and competitive bids within agreed timelines.
- Improve conversion rates through clear, impactful submissions.
- Strengthen collaboration and consistency across HCML’s bid activities.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years in a Bid Writer/Management role.
- Proven track record managing bids end-to-end (from initiation to submission).
- Strong bid writing experience with successful submission outcomes.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams in high-pressure environments. Desirable
- Industry experience in Healthcare, Health, Insurance, or Legal sectors.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient project management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
- High attention to detail, with strong proofreading and editing capabilities.
- Confident stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
