Location: Warton. Hybrid – 3 days per week on site. This role will require regular UK travel, likely to RAF Marham (Norfolk) and/or London.

Role Overview
This Bid Project Manager role is pivotal to delivering the BAE Systems bid in supporting the UK F-35 aircraft fleet. You will help shape a complex, multi-partner solution across BAE Systems and wider industry stakeholders, working closely with industry and government. The next-generation Lightning Air Support System (LANCE) National Capability Enterprise bid seeks to embed transformation principles to evolve a proven support model, ensuring UK-unique capability, readiness, and resilience.
Key Duties
- Support development of the Bid/Campaign Plan
- Lead aspects of bid management, including Lifecycle Management (LCM) reviews
- Development of the proposal submission:
- Liaise with technical teams in the creation of Statement of Work (SoW), Bases of Estimate and other materials
- Deploy business-winning policies and processes, including:
- Operational Framework
- Lifecycle Management (LCM)
- Capture plans
- Ensure LANCE bid activities are consistent and compliant with business requirements

Location & Responsibilities
Based primarily in Warton (Northwest), you will travel regularly to RAF Marham (Norfolk) and other locations. You will represent BAE Systems during the early lifecycle of the LANCE bid, collaborating closely with key stakeholders such as the Mod, RAF, RN, DE&S, and Lockheed Martin.
This role offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge defence technology, the opportunity to work closely with the RAF’s most advanced aircraft (F-35), and direct engagement with customers and end users. The position combines strategic influence with real-world operational oversight.
Essential Requirements
- Hold a recognised professional accounting qualification, such as:
- CIMA
- ACCA
- ACA
- ICAEW (or equivalent)
- Extensive knowledge of financial systems (e.g., SAP, Infor LN, Sage)
- Proficiency in Microsoft tools, especially Excel
- Experience supporting, guiding, and developing teams and individuals
- Ability to:
- Interpret multi-faceted financial data
- Communicate clear insights to colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Identify weaknesses in control systems
- Deliver effective, sustainable improvements
