Bid Writer
We are looking for a commercially minded Bid Writer to identify opportunities and build partnerships for AMIC’s advanced manufacturing capabilities.
In this role, the successful candidate will:
- Take the lead in scoping, developing, and authoring grant applications and commercial proposals, supported by AMIC’s technical and leadership teams
- Utilise AMIC’s new and existing commercial relationships, leveraging public funding from regional, UK, cross-border, and EU sources, with an eventual focus on UK funding in the medium term
- Engage client-facing work during proposal development and fostering external relationships with industrial partners and funding bodies
About The Role
- Fixed-term contract: 3 years (renewable subject to funding availability)
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for grant applications and commercial proposals
- Collaborate with technical and leadership teams to refine proposals
- Manage relationships with industrial partners, funding bodies, and stakeholders
- Analyse and apply knowledge of public funding opportunities (regional, UK, cross-border, EU)
- Develop long-term funding strategies with a focus on UK sources
- Ensure proposals align with societal challenges and industry benefits

Essential Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Education/Experience:
- Honours degree (or equivalent) in relevant fields such as:
- Engineering
- Manufacturing
- Engineering/Technology Management
- ICT
- Physical Sciences
- Business
- OR substantial relevant experience in a similar role

Grant Proposal Experience:
- Proven success in compiling commercial proposals and business cases
- Strong understanding of bid writing and funding processes

Relationship Management & Collaboration:
- Ability to build and manage relationships in a collaborative environment
- Experience delivering outcomes for industrial partners to benefit industry
- Project management skills with evidence of successful collaboration

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Well-developed ability to analyse complex information
- Strong decision-making based on problem-solving and critical thinking
