Bids Manager

Location: Any UK Office - Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London or Manchester

Salary: £70k to £80k DOE

Full time: 12 months Fixed Term Contract

Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH

Our client is a high profile global Professional services firm. We are on the lookout for a Bids Manager to join their highly successful Central Bids team. In this key role, you will take lead responsibility for our client’s bidding activity within the Energy sector, partnering closely with senior stakeholders to shape strategy, advise on best practice, and deliver high-impact submissions. Alongside project delivery, you will also play a vital role in developing talent by line-managing and mentoring a Bids Executive.

The Role:

  • Take full ownership of strategic Energy sector tenders and presentations, from initial qualification and opportunity analysis through to submission.
  • Lead kick-off meetings, coordinate internal teams, and define bid strategy in alignment with wider sector goals.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to partners, providing strategic guidance, presentation rehearsals, and coaching throughout the process.
  • Review and edit bid content to ensure a cohesive, compelling 'one voice' message that meets client requirements.
  • Lead scoping calls and conduct thorough client debriefs to capture feedback and improve future win rates.
  • Line-manage, mentor, and coach a Bids Executive, supporting their professional growth and understanding of bid best practice.
  • Oversee daily workflow allocation, conduct performance reviews, manage absences, and lead inductions for new team members.
  • Review the Bids Executive's work, providing constructive feedback to maintain high submission standards.
  • Maintain and enhance standard materials to improve and expand the firm’s automated content library.
  • Contribute to wider projects aimed at improving reporting, data analysis, and best practice across the firm.

About You:

  • Extensive experience (ideally 4+ years) managing complex bids, driving strategy, and crafting compelling client-facing copy.
  • Experience within legal or professional services or energy services is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in coaching pitch teams and role-playing the client to refine presentation delivery.
  • APMP certification is welcomed, but not essential.
  • Strong ability to guide, advise, and influence senior stakeholders throughout the entire bidding lifecycle.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with a track record of juggling multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A natural mentor with the leadership skills needed to guide and develop junior team members.
