About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Bid & Proposals Manager to enhance our approach to winning work across the firm.

This is a newly created role as part of a rapidly growing Marketing & Business Development team within the business. Focused on how we win work from new and existing clients, it’s a senior, hands-on role responsible for:

  • Leading high-quality bids, proposals, and presentations
  • Improving commercial processes
  • Bringing greater structure, visibility, and consistency to how we pursue opportunities across the business
  • Collaborating and influencing with Partners, fee-earners, subject matter experts, marketing colleagues, and external suppliers to drive conversion of business development opportunities

A key part of the role will involve leading major tenders and presentations, covering the entire process from qualification through to the submission and interview stage. The aim is to elevate the quality of responses, strengthen messaging, and ensure differentiation in a competitive market. You will also help to shape and evolve the commercial effectiveness of a growing professional services business across various sectors, service lines, and high-profile client relationships.

  • Strong bid leadership and commercial awareness
  • Ability to manage and improve the full bid lifecycle, ensuring proposals, presentations, and interview preparation are structured, creative, and consistent while remaining aligned to commercial priorities and client priorities

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing the full bid and tender process from qualification through to submission and presentation
  • Improving the quality, consistency, and commercial impact of bids, proposals, and presentations across the firm
  • Coordinating and supporting fee-earners in business development (BD) interactions, including:
    • Introductory meetings
    • Credentials presentations
    • Pitches
    • Interview preparation Ensuring all supporting materials are client-centred, commercially compelling, and aligned with the brand
  • Managing and developing bid content libraries and knowledge management systems, such as Loopio (the firm’s bid management platform)
  • Introducing greater rigor around the conversion of BD opportunities
  • Developing and refining templates, collateral, and presentation materials
  • Coordinating lessons learned and post-submission reviews to enhance win rates
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve the effectiveness of BD activity across the firm

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in a bids or proposals role, ideally within professional services, property, construction, legal, or consultancy sectors
  • The ability to lead complex bids and proposals, while managing multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines, and high-quality submissions without compromising detail
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Understanding of how professional services firms grow through relationships, reputation, and consistent delivery
  • Confidence to operate in senior environments and work credibly with Partners and leadership teams
  • Ability to challenge constructively while maintaining accountability and standards
  • Experience improving systems and processes, particularly within bid management

Technical Skills

  • Experience with bid management/content systems (preferably knowledge of Loopio, though not essential)
  • Advanced presentation and proposal management capabilities

  • Organised, proactive, and solution-focused
  • Knowledgeable of strategic thinking, yet capable of hands-on delivery
  • Well-rounded collaborative and pragmatic mindset
  • Able to recognise ways to improve processes and enhance commercial effectiveness

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in professional services business development, ideally in bid management
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex bids throughout the lifecycle with strong project management skills
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders and leadership teams to effectively support BD activity
  • Experience improving bid management systems, reporting, or processes
  • Proven communication, writing, and presentation skills
