Signal Processing Scientist – Real-Time Signal Processing & Underwater Acoustics

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where mathematical rigor meets cutting-edge systems development. Successful candidates collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to address critical national security challenges, leveraging:

  • Development of real-time signal processing code
  • Post-processing of complex datasets, including diagnostics, forensics, and phenomenon investigation
  • Design of acoustic modeling tools for system planning, e.g. via underwater acoustics physics models
  • Hands-on at-sea testing of prototypes from concept to field deployment

By partnering with clients who prioritise innovation and hands-on technical leadership, researchers translate theoretical physics into practical technological solutions. Prototypes move rapidly from lab to live testing—an environment that rewards both disciplinary expertise and creative problem-solving.

About the Role

We seek a Signal Processing Scientist with deep expertise in underwater acoustics, detection theory, and design of signal processing algorithms. This position involves contributing to or leading the development of state-of-the-art systems through:

  • Core technical contributions:
    - Post-processing of noisy acoustic datasets with diagnostic forensics
    - Design of planning/adaptive tools for system acoustic performance```

  • Leadership & integration: - Technical and/or project leadership for system design, code integration, and customer-facing testing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
