Job Title: Bureau Account Manager – Utilities (Billing & Validation)

Salary & Package £30,000 – £40,000
Plus Monthly Bonus Opportunities - TBD

About the Role

Our client is a fast-growing independent utilities bureau and consultancy, specialising in electricity, gas, water procurement, heat network billing, and tenant recharging across the UK.

They are hiring a Bureau Account Manager to join their Bureau Services team in a hands-on operational and client-facing role. This is a utilities billing and operational delivery position, focused on managing end-to-end bureau processes across multiple client accounts.

This role sits at the centre of the bureau function, ensuring accurate utility billing, effective validation of supplier data, resolution of metering and consumption issues, and high-quality service delivery to clients and their customers.

The ideal candidate will come from a utilities, energy bureau, or billing operations background, confident working with high-volume usage data, complex billing cycles, and operational issue resolution. Focused on utility billing operations and service delivery.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bureau and utility billing operations
  • Validate supplier invoices and investigate billing discrepancies
  • Support residential tenant recharging and utility billing processes
  • Act as the main point of contact for client and customer enquiries
  • Liaise with utility suppliers to resolve billing and metering issues
  • Submit and manage meter readings and monitor missing consumption data
  • Handle high volumes of billing and financial data accurately
  • Assist with account reconciliations and payment allocations
  • Produce monthly billing reports, summaries, and consumption analysis
  • Maintain accurate records across billing and energy management systems
  • Support onboarding of new clients and utility account setups
  • Attend client meetings relating to billing and heat network services
  • Support continuous improvement of internal bureau systems and processes
  • Provide support for customer portals and reporting tools

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in energy bureau, utilities, billing, or account management (essential)
  • Strong understanding of utility billing processes and invoice validation
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Confident working with large datasets and Excel (formulas, VLOOKUPs, data handling)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently within SLA-driven environment
  • Experience with billing platforms, CRM systems, or energy software

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with heat networks or tenant recharging
  • Exposure to managing agents, property developers, or commercial portfolios
  • Understanding of gas, electricity, water, or multi-utility environments
  • UK driving licence (beneficial due to location and travel requirements)
