Billing Coordinator
We have an exciting opportunity for a Billing Coordinator to play a vital role in providing support at our Advice Services.
Position: Billing Coordinator
Location: Brighton
Salary: £20,281 per annum (£29,826 per annum, pro rata)
Hours: 25 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
Contract: Permanent

About:
As a Billing Coordinator you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission and values is to inspire change across Sussex.
About the Role
The Billing Coordinator will work closely with caseworkers, the Finance Officer, clients and external agencies as appropriate to ensure that all necessary paperwork, documentation and case management records are in place and up to date prior to billing Legal Help Escape Fee cases and costing Legal Aid cases.
The Billing Coordinator will have excellent attention to details and strong organisation skills to support with efficient and effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare files and claim forms for submission to Legal Aid Agency, following monthly Legal Help Submissions.
- Prepare non-complex draft bills of costs; relevant claim forms and schedules of costs for submission to Court; Legal Aid Agency and Other Sides as necessary.
- Liaise with costs draftsperson in relation to more complex bills and claims.
- In liaison with colleagues, clients and other parties as necessary, co-ordinate both the Court assessment and Legal Aid Agency assessment of Legal Aid costs processes through to completion.
- Track all requests for assessment (Legal Help and Legal Aid) and co-ordinating appeals and responses to rejections as necessary, through to completion.
- Track all claims for payment submitted to the Legal Aid Agency, addressing queries and rejections as necessary through to completion.

Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Billing Coordinator you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
- Experience of legal billing clerk/costs drafts person or proven relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Legal Aid Agency processes and requirements, and Court processes relating to costs assessment.
- Experience and knowledge of Legal Aid Agency processes and requirements in relation to billing immigration and housing cases, including the use of LAA systems (CWA, CCMS, Galaxkey). (Desirable).
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (Desirable).
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, including maintaining paper and electronic filing systems.
