BIM Coordinator

SP Energy Networks, Hamilton International Technology Park, Blantyre. G72 0HT

Salary: from £38,760 Type: Permanent Closing Date: 3rd July 2026

Purpose

With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest in Transmission projects across our Transmission network in Central and Southern Scotland by 2030, the HVDC team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the Transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.

SPEN are currently recruiting a BIM Coordinator to enable the business and HVDC to implement BIM processes and technologies for the design and construction of SP Transmission's (SPT) infrastructure.

As BIM Coordinator, you will work closely with the BIM Manager to help drive the implementation of processes and technologies through the life cycle of projects, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO 19650 and internal and external procedures.

This will enable SPT and our delivery team to exchange information accurately and securely, utilising common data environment and cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with BIM Managers, assisting on multiple core projects and championing our internal BIM procedures and central processes.
  • Be at the forefront of BIM and Digital Design practices, driving continual improvement and pushing boundaries to make a tangible difference in the success of our projects, ensuring high-quality standards are met and exceeded.
  • Assist project teams to meet client, business and industry requirements.
  • Work closely with the BIM Manager to manage and coordinate BIM standards, develop, implement and enforce ISO 19650 standards and protocols on projects.
  • Feed into and help maintain project-facing BIM documentation, workflows from organisational templates and workflow processes, ensuring consistency and compliance.
  • Provide support to project teams on software and tools, including Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) modules.
  • Assist in BIM project setup and coordination with our internal delivery teams to ensure proper implementation.
  • Review BIM model data for conformance with SPEN requirements.
  • Participate in BIM meetings with the BIM Manager, leading appointed parties to resolve issues and streamline processes.
  • Support BIM Managers on managing various tasks on multiple projects within the HVDC portfolio.
  • Conduct regular site visits to support Lead Appointed Parties, ensuring the smooth execution of design intent whilst providing on-site assistance to the project team for model coordination, design validation and identification of potential blockers on design-related issues during construction.

What you’ll bring

  • A recognised qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Several years' past experience within a Design, Digital or BIM-related role within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry.
  • Familiarity with BIM standards, particularly ISO 19650.
  • Demonstrated experience with Model validation and Data validation.
  • Knowledge of digital tools such as Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Solibri, Revizto, or similar.
  • Knowledge of COBie (Construction-Operations Building information exchange) and IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) data formats would be beneficial.
  • Comfort working within a common data environments (CDEs) such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Familiarity with BIM project documents such as BEP, MIDP is required.
