BIM Manager – Arcadis

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining our expanding BIM (Building Information Modelling) team as BIM Manager, reporting directly to the BIM Team Leader and secondarily to the Technical Director. Your role will involve technical leadership, strategic planning, and collaborative delivery across Defence, Local Government, and multi-disciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery & Execution

  • Work closely with Project Managers and clients to ensure clarity in communication, progress updates, and problem resolution.
  • Oversee BIM processes in large-scale projects, including multi-stakeholder coordination.
  • Manage BIM workflows using relevant tools, standards, and technologies.

Process Improvement & Strategy

  • Help shape and update company BIM policies and strategies.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with Arcadis and national BIM/drafting standards.
  • Collaborate with the BIM Lead in refining processes related to:
    • Information management
    • Quality assurance
    • Process optimisation
    • Team efficiency

  • Continuously review BIM-related software and assess business cases for new investments.

Training & Compliance

  • Train and support colleagues in BIM processes, protocols, and tools.

  • Maintain enterprise compliance across all arcadis managed projects.

  • Benchmark and stay updated with industry best practices and evolving standards.

Technical Leadership

  • Coordinating BIM models and conducting coordination workshops to enhance model quality.
  • Detecting and resolving clash coordination, model validation, and QA audits.
  • Leveraging advanced tools such as Navisworks Manage, Solibri Model Checker, Dynamo, and scripting.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage fourth/fifth-dimensional BIM applications where possible.
  • Implement and maintain Common Data Environments (CDEs), including Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Bentley ProjectWise.
  • Provide technical leadership on BIM Handover Documentation Systems e.g. COBie and NBS BIM Toolkit (Uniclass).
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for strategic decisions in BIM innovation and digital transformation.

Requirements

Experience & Technical Skills

✅ Proven leadership in BIM project delivery ✅ Familiarity with ISO 19650-quality BIM accreditation standards ✅ Experience establishing ISO 19650-compliant processes in projects ✅ Expertise in BIM Core software:

  • Constructive tools (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
  • Familiarity with Dynamo scripting is highly desirable
  • Experience with BIM model federation, clash detection, COBie exchange formats

✅ Engineering & project management:

  • Coordination and running clash detection and model quality workshops
  • Managing competing demands with resilience and prioritisation ability

Industry & Certification Proficiency

✅ Chartered or inclining status with a professional engineering institution, e.g., ET/IEng ✅ Relevant degree (HND/HNC or equivalent) in design, engineering, modelling, or MINRS-HIT/SETech Grant ✅ Geographic SBEM compliance of UK coverage is essential ✅ GeoSpatial awareness of UK spatial data strategic adoption frameworks
