BIM Manager – London, Bicester or Newcastle

With a focus on digital infrastructure, built environment development, and zero carbon-built environments, we support our clients throughout the entire life cycle of projects, delivering time, cost, and effort savings through our UK-leading technical expertise.

We’re seeking an experienced BIM Manager to join our team in our London, Bicester, or Newcastle offices.


Key Responsibilities

BIM and Modelling Leadership

  • Lead the production, compilation, and issue of Revit/BIM models across all business sectors, including presentational materials for clients.
  • Train and share knowledge on BIM methodologies and company standards across teams.
  • Develop and oversee adherence to Red’s company BIM standards, aligning with AEC standards and UK BIMstore protocols.
  • Auditing of 2D CAD drawings and 3D models to ensure accuracy.
  • Plan and lead inter-office (internal) and extra-office (external) collaborations, designing workflows for seamless team interaction.

Technical & System Development

  • Manage library and content creation, including parametric and intelligent families within Revit MEP.
  • Integrate technical details into specifications via Revit systems families for extractable data.
  • Customise and maintain AutoCAD and Revit templates for project sectors with high-quality visual standards.
  • Generate rendered images and animations using Revit, SketchUp and Navisworks Manage.

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Represent RED’s BIM capabilities in client interviews and provide input during bid submissions.
  • Present 3D model progress at project meetings, either in person or via video conferencing.
  • Conduct internal BIM/M&E workshops and manage coordination meetings with external partners.
  • Ensure models meet internal QA procedures and feedback modifications to team members.
  • Act as a s disadvant-line for subordinates on model accuracy before formal release.
  • Routinely engage in knowledge-sharing initiatives, including potential visits to RED offices in the Middle East and Asia.

Strategic & Leadership Roles

  • Lead BIM and software training initiatives, including updates on latest industry trends.
  • Mentor CAD/modelling staff and guide them on processes, standards, and tools.
  • Attend and speak at RED-hosted BIM events, preparing presentations and sharing expertise.
  • Coordinate MEP systems across all project sectors, ensuring technical accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of BIM/software advancements via industry engagement (conferences, webinars, publications).

Key Responsibilities Continued

MEP Coordination & Quality Assurance

  • Work on schematic and detailed Revit/BIM MEP models, including MEP system coordination.
  • Review models using automated Lumetri tools to identify errors and extend model validation logic as needed.
  • Liaise with consultant engineers to ensure model accuracy when Deltek Direct Connect clash detection tools gain BIM capabilities.

Technical & Corporate Contributions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve MEP clashes in 3D models.
  • Merge existing AutoCAD files without losing key annotations or communications.
  • Drive innovation in modelling sustainability via holistic design.
  • Analyse and challenge construction/design technical issues during decision-making processes.

Essential Requirements

Core Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree (BSc/BEng, BTEC National Diploma) or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (desirable but prefer practical experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in Revit MEP modelling.
  • Advanced expertise in (preferably qualified):
    • Autodesk Revit MEP Fundamentals / Project Managers
    • NavisWorks, AutoCAD 3D & Advanced
  • Industry Networking: Member or Associate member of CIBSE/Society of Digital Engineering (preferred).
  • International Work, NIST standards familiarity (namely, OMB Circular A-117 recommendations). Required when supporting offices overseas.

Technical Knowledge

  • Practitioner-level competence in managing MEP services coordination via:
    • Revit MEP (with >5 years' experience) – libraries building, intelligent components.
    • AutoCAD templates, collections.
    • Navisworks for embellishment and collaboration.
    • BIM 360 (cloud-based) and Revit server; migrations*.
  • Certificate in the use of Burwall’s MEPLib (LDC/Parametric library).
  • Strong Revit Architecture/Structure understanding for cohesive BIM environments.
  • Embed structured dding, drain and smoke vents into load-bearing elements.
  • Voice integration software (NICE DCMX tools).

Soft Skills & Project Management

  • Leadership experience: Proven ability to train, mentor and manage teams.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, excelling under pressure.
  • Attention to detail, cultivating model accuracy and bespoke corporate aesthetics.
  • Strong oral/written presentation skills; capable of leading discussions.
  • Proficient with MEP modelling scripts/LISP for workflow automation (preferred but flexible).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA/Construction Act principles.
  • Basic familiarity with sustainability analysis software (e.g., Revit 'Team: Primary Energy' measures).

Optional Advantages

  • Construction<img Ced_nable to produce finalised presentations for client pitches or --join Bluebeam Studio evaluations.
  • Preference given to individuals with familiar experience in long-term industrial projects (mechanical: HVAC/fire/Gas).

Desirable Collaborative Experience

  • Knowledge of Deltek Vista NBM/Vantage for specifications publication.
  • Experienced in CIS 2003 V6+ as an advance financial software.
