BIM Manager – Red Engineering Design Limited
Location: London, Bicester, or Newcastle
RED are an expanding international M&E consultancy, specialising in low-energy design with a strong track record in delivering high-quality design solutions. We leverage technical expertise to support digital infrastructure development, sustainable built environments, and zero-carbon objectives across the entire project lifecycle.
Our collaborative, client-centric approach positions us as a leader in BIM (Building Information Modelling), enabling our clients to save time, money, and effort.
We are seeking an experienced BIM Manager to lead modelling solutions across our London, Bicester, or Newcastle offices.
Key Responsibilities
Technical and modelling expertise
- Lead Revit/BIM modelling across all business sectors, including presenting client documentation, training teams, and knowledge sharing
- Develop and enforce company BIM standards aligned with industry AEC standards and BIMstore UK protocols
- Manage library and content creation for parametric systems, intelligent families, and Rev vit MEP models
- Convert traditional specifications into intelligent, data-driven model annotations
- Audit 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for accuracy
- Plan and coordinate internal (in-house) and external (partner) BIM collaboration
Template and workflow management
- Create and manage AutoCAD and Revit templates tailored to project sectors
- Establish standardised visual drawing standards, ensuring colour and BIM clarity for output
- Produce high-quality models and rendered presentations using Revit, SketchUp, and Navisworks
Presentations, engagements, and client projects
- Support client bid and proposal preparation through presentations of BIM capabilities and models
- Attend project meetings (in-person or via conference calls) to update client and team stakeholders on model progress
- Actively advocate for RED’s BIM solutions in industry events, webinars, and conferences

Training and professional development
- Train team members on best practices in BIM, Revit, and modelling techniques
- Evelop software expertise via automation, scripting (Dynamo/LISP), and industry updates
- Contribute to internal knowledge growth through coaching sessions
Coordination and project oversight
- Set schedules for MEP design (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) across all sectors
- Ensure consistency between BIM model accuracy, construction drawings, and on-site implementation
- Coordinate with BIM consultants, engineers, and external design teams for seamless workflows
- Review models for quality, internal QA standards, and responsiveness to client changes
Role Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree/shorcut (BSc/BEng, BTEC National Diploma in Construction, or equivalent) in engineering or related sector (preferred but desirable)
- Industry certifications from Autodesk, CIBSE, or Society of Digital Engineering (highly desirable):
- Revit MEP Fundamentals
- Revit for Project Managers
- NavisWorks
- AutoCAD 3D Modelling
- Minimum of 5 years of Revit experience on active, complex projects
Technical competence
- Advanced expertise in:
- AutoCAD (2D/3D, templates, manipulation)
- Revit MEP (parametric systems, families, libraries)
- Navisworks Manage (3D coordination, clashing)
- Knowledge of BIM 360 and Revit Server usage, workflows, and logistical integrations
- Experience setting BIM standards, preparing execution plans, and executing model testing

Construction and project integration
- Hands-on experience in contractors’ workshops, producing 3D-accurate construction drawings
- MEP coordination comprehension (air conditioning, electrical systems, piping, fire systems, lighting, etc.)
- Detailed mechanical/electrical installation requirements knowledge, including routings, maintenance space, peripherals
Soft and professional skills
- Project leadership experience with team management
- Proven presentation and collaboration skills with clients and contractors
- Understanding of international consultancy operations, H&S regulations, and ethical conduct
- Ability to prioritise workloads, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to project changes
- Optional: Knowledge of automated macros or workflow scripts
