BIM Technician – Newport or Bodelwyddan

What You’ll Do

As a BIM Technician, you will play a pivotal role in delivering digital outputs across the entire project lifecycle. Your responsibilities include:

  • BIM and CAD Delivery

    • Produce CAD/BIM design data while adhering to quality control standards.
    • Ensure the development and maintenance of company-wide CAD/BIM standards.
    • Utilise 3D modelling to support:
      • Design collaboration
      • Clash resolution
      • Asset data capture
      • Digital rehearsals and cost forecasting
    • Create and develop a standardised BIM element library to facilitate model reuse, including identification of low-carbon solutions.
  • Digital Platform & Security

    • Support the Common Data Environment (Autodesk CC/BIM 360) in design rule compliance.
    • Manage cybersecurity for BIM/CAD data, ensuring secure access and access control.
    • Validate supplier CAD/BIM models and integrate them into our workflows.

  • Project Team Leadership

    • Balance competing factors: time, cost, quality.
    • Embed BIM principles into project processes, guiding designers and mentoring less experienced BIM technicians.

Your Organisation & Workplace

This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but actively collaborative with JN Bentley, blending engineering design with construction execution.


Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Qualification & Technical Skills

    • A recognised qualification in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), BIM, or a related field.
    • Proficency in one or more Autodesk tools (Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD and/or Navisworks).
  • Industry Experience

    • Experience working in water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects.
    • Hands-on experience with 3D models and the Common Data Environment Platform (BIM 360/CC).
  • Core Competencies

    • Understanding of ISO 19650 (Information Management Framework).
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders, designers, and senior management.
    • Proven ability to manage complex projects within tight deadlines, prioritise tasks, and deliver cost-efficient solutions.
    • Technical problem-solving with a methodical, pragmatic approach.
