Job Description
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
This is a fulltime, permanent position, working a flexible 37 hour week, Monday – Friday.
As an Analytical Scientist you will support the development and optimisation of immunochromatography-based antigen content assays for vaccine antigen quantification within our client’s Analytical Technology Solutions Department based in Milton Keynes.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the development, optimisation, and troubleshooting of immunochromatography-based antigen content assays, including affinity chromatography experiments, partnering with scientists to improve assay sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and overall performance.
- Perform protein purification and sample preparation activities using ÄKTA FPLC systems, ensuring accurate buffer preparation, column setup, fraction collection, chromatogram monitoring, and effective operation of UNICORN software.
- Develop, program, and optimise chromatography methods within UNICORN, adjusting key parameters to achieve robust, reliable, and reproducible results.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, including ÄKTA chromatography systems and associated autosamplers, coordinating maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Support method validation activities by preparing and executing validation protocols, analysing performance characteristics such as accuracy, precision, and linearity, and contributing to validation documentation and reporting.
- Analyse assay and chromatography data, quantify antigen content, maintain accurate laboratory documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and communicate findings through clear reports and presentations to support project objectives.

Qualifications
What skills, qualifications and experiences you will hold as an BioAnalytical Scientist:
- You will hold a degree or higher qualification in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, biology, chemistry or related life science field, together with experience in a bioanalytical laboratory environment working to GMP, regulatory, and quality standards.
- You will have proven experience operating Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (FPLC) as well as Cytiva ÄKTA Pure or ÄKTA Avant chromatography systems and proficiency with UNICORN software for method development, programming, execution, and data analysis within a laboratory environment.
- You will have experience with automated chromatography workflows, including operation of ALIAS or similar autosampler systems, alongside exposure to immunoassay techniques such as ELISA, Western blotting, lateral flow assays, or related analytical methodologies.
- You will have a strong understanding of regulated laboratory environments, including GLP and GMP requirements, with knowledge of method development, validation activities, quality systems, and documentation standards expected within Eurofins.
- You have strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with proficiency in software such as Excel, Minitab, or GraphPad Prism, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through the application of best practices, scientific learning, and process optimisation initiatives
- You will hold a proactive, quality-focused mindset, with the ability to quickly learn new processes, adapt to changing priorities, utilise electronic systems including Microsoft Office, identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
