Biobank Technician
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Biobank Technician to support the establishment and day-to-day operation of a growing human tissue biobank.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cardiovascular and neurovascular research by coordinating sample management activities, supporting research governance processes, and ensuring high standards of data quality, compliance and participant sample stewardship. Working closely with researchers, clinicians and external partners, you will play a key role in enabling high-quality translational research within a dynamic and inclusive environment.
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating the day-to-day operation of the biobank, including the receipt, logging, storage and distribution of human tissue samples.
- Supporting the preparation of ethics and governance documentation, including research ethics applications, study amendments and associated regulatory paperwork.
- Monitoring sample inventory and usage across projects, maintaining accurate records and ensuring robust audit trails.
- Undertaking routine sample processing activities and quality checks whilst ensuring compliance with the Human Tissue Act, GDPR and local procedures.

About You
We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:
Essential Criteria:
- A relevant biological sciences qualification or substantial experience working within a research laboratory environment.
- Hands-on experience of biobanking, sample management, and working with human tissue samples and associated research data.
- Experience supporting or preparing NHS research ethics or governance applications.
- Excellent communication skills and experience using laboratory databases or other IT systems relevant to sample and data management.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working within a clinical research, NHS or Higher Education environment.
- Experience using REDCap or similar sample management databases.
