Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About The Role
What if your deep expertise in biochemistry could help shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically accurate AI models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to make it happen.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics becomes the benchmark that AI has to meet. No prior AI experience required — just a passion for scientific rigor and clear thinking.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems: Create challenging biochemistry problems across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously stress-test AI performance.
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions: Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as the scientific benchmark AI models are trained to replicate.
- Audit AI Reasoning: Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative analyses for accuracy, safety, and scientific integrity.
- Refine AI Thinking: Identify flaws in AI reasoning — such as incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or faulty metabolic logic — and provide structured feedback that directly improves model performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
