Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your deep knowledge of protein folding, metabolic pathways, and enzyme kinetics could directly shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous AI models — and we need expert biochemists to help us do it.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your expertise becomes the benchmark. You'll challenge, evaluate, and refine advanced AI systems on some of the most complex topics in the life sciences — and you don't need any prior AI experience to get started.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems: Create rigorous biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions: Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as the scientific gold standard for AI reasoning and benchmarking
- Audit AI Outputs: Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and safety
- Refine AI Reasoning: Identify and document failure modes — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemical reasoning, or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
- Work Independently: Complete assignments asynchronously on your own schedule, with no rigid hours or location requirements

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
