Job Summary
Iambic Therapeutics is seeking a Biological Structures Data Engineer to join the NeuralPLexer team and own the data pipelines for acquiring, curating, and transforming experimental and synthetic data to train the next generation of NeuralPLexer models.
This role centers on deep, practical fluency with structural data:.cif files, the PDB, and the work of integrating structural data from many different sources which typically requires careful adaptation before it is usable. Working alongside ML scientists, you will design, implement, and harden the workflows that prepare experimental structural (e.g., protein–ligand complexes) and affinity data for training, and help create and ingest large volumes of high-quality computationally generated synthetic data.
The emphasis throughout is on turning detailed domain knowledge into well-engineered, maintainable infrastructure that the rest of the team can depend on, rather than bespoke one-off handling. This position will be hybrid in our Bristol office.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand, maintain, and enhance existing data pipelines, including parsing and validation of structural data (.cif/PDB and beyond)
- Integrate and adapt data from a range of public and proprietary sources into reliable, reusable pipelines
- Work closely with ML scientists to ensure their data needs are met
- Ensure all data is stored in a secure, robust, and retrievable manner
- Perform code reviews and exemplify software engineering best practices
- Communicate technical work effectively across a cross-functional research and engineering team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
