The Pathology departments at University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are working collaboratively to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology (TVP) with services being delivered on all hospital sites.

Depending on the level of qualifications and degree of experience from applications for the Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) posts, consideration will also be given to applicants who are newly qualified HCPC candidates and who may be working towards these qualifications and thus be applicable for employment at Registered Biomedical Scientist (Band 5) level.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with appropriate experience, knowledge and skills to join our scientific team and participate in the delivery of services provided by Immunology as part of the TVP service operating out of University Hospital North Tees and Hartlepool Hospital, Stockton on Tees, Hartlepool Hospital, The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.

Candidates Requirements:

  • HCPC state registered
  • Hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio
  • Experience of working various shifts across both core and non-core hours in their chosen discipline or have equivalent expertise that can be demonstrated on their application

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
