About Level Zero

Level Zero is pioneering next-generation biosensor technology for precise, real-time monitoring of critical endocrine biomarkers. Recognised as one of the top 20 startups across all categories worldwide at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024—and backed by top-tier organisations like SOSV and Entrepreneur First—we’re pushing the boundaries of biochemistry and nanotechnology to revolutionize personalised health.

Founded by two seasoned engineers, we bring extensive experience in R&D, technical innovation, and commercial strategy to transform the way people monitor their health. Our mission is bold: to revolutionise health management by delivering clinical-grade data directly to individuals, wherever they are.

We’re seeking driven innovators to join us in pushing the boundaries of biosensing and health tech, making personalised health monitoring a reality for everyone. To achieve this ambitious vision, we’re assembling the best team in the world—dedicated to turning cutting-edge science into life-changing, real-world solutions.

About The Role

We are excited to welcome a biosensor scientist with a strong background in electrochemical biosensor R&D and experience in working with aptamers to join our rapidly growing start-up. The ideal candidate is expected to be proficient in bench and wet chemistry techniques. Moreover, they should have sound knowledge and experience in assay development, small molecule detection, and electrode surface modifications. It is essential for the candidate to have extensive experience in aptamer-based electrochemical biosensor R&D, including the designs, operation principles, troubleshooting, and analysis.

This is a full-time, in-person role primarily based in London.

Some examples of what you might do:

  • Design, prototype, and optimize electrochemical biosensor systems, focusing on small molecule analytes and aptamer-based recognition
  • Apply surface chemistry and electrode modification strategies to improve sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and biosensor performance in complex biological samples
  • Translate bio-element-target interactions into measurable and reproducible sensor outputs through novel assay design
  • Apply a range of electrochemical methods (voltammetry, impedimetry, chronoamperometry, etc.) to characterize and evaluate biosensor function
  • Apply data-driven approaches including Python-based analysis and Design of Experiments (DoE) to streamline workflows
  • Troubleshoot technical and conceptual challenges systematically and propose innovative solutions to improve performance
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure experimental reproducibility and compliance with quality standards
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (chemists, biologists, engineers, and data scientists) to advance biosensor prototypes from concept to application
  • Present results clearly through written reports, oral presentations, and scientific publications
  • Attend R&D-related trainings and seminars for continuous updates on the latest trend in hormone sensing technologies

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
