BMS Commissioning Engineer / BMS Service Engineer - London
We're currently recruiting for experienced BMS Commissioning Engineers and BMS Service Engineers to join a leading building services contractor supporting a busy programme of commercial BMS projects across London and the South of England.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who are comfortable working on a contract/day-rate basis, with initial assignments expected to run for 1–3 months, and the potential for ongoing work. We're looking for self-sufficient engineers who can represent the client professionally, commission systems to a high standard, and build strong relationships with end clients on site. The successful engineer will be responsible for commissioning, servicing, fault finding, and supporting the delivery of Building Management Systems across a range of commercial projects.
The Role
- Commission and service Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Carry out fault finding, testing, and system optimisation
- Complete commissioning documentation and client handover packs
- Attend customer sites independently across London and the South
- Liaise professionally with clients, site teams, and project managers
- Ensure systems are fully operational and commissioned to specification
- Support installation and commissioning activities where required

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
