A BMS Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering Building Management System projects (also called Building Automation Systems) on time, within scope, and within budget. This role involves coordinating technical teams, managing stakeholders, and ensuring systems meet operational and energy-efficiency goals.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Delivery Lead end-to-end BMS project lifecycle (design, installation, commissioning, handover) Define project scope, timelines, and resource requirements Develop project plans and track progress against milestones Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget Technical Oversight Oversee design and implementation of BMS systems (HVAC, lighting, energy monitoring, etc.) Review technical specifications, drawings, and control strategies Ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements Stakeholder Management Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors Conduct project meetings and provide regular status updates Manage expectations and resolve issues effectively Team Coordination Coordinate engineers, subcontractors, and vendors Assign tasks and monitor team performance Ensure proper communication across all parties Budget & Risk Management Prepare and manage project budgets and cost forecasts Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies Handle variations, change orders, and contract management Quality & Compliance Ensure systems meet quality standards and regulatory requirements Oversee testing, commissioning, and system validation Ensure proper documentation and handover to the client

Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services) or related field Experience 2–10+ years in BMS/BAS project delivery or related field Proven experience managing complex technical projects Technical Skills Knowledge of BMS platforms (e.g., Distech, Honeywell, Schneider, Trend) Understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and integration protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Project Management Skills Strong planning and organizational skills Knowledge of budgeting and planning tools Budgeting and cost control expertise Soft Skills Excellent communication and leadership abilities Problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
