Purpose of the Role
Due to continued success in securing new contracts and tenders, we are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Bodyshop Technician to join our Mechanical Services division in Ringmer, BN8 5NP.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking and growing business, where your skills and expertise will contribute to delivering high-quality vehicle repairs and maintaining our excellent reputation.
Key responsibility: Repairing and restoring a range of specialist fleet vehicles—including fire brigade appliances, ambulance vehicles, police vehicles, and Iveco vehicles—to pre-accident condition. Tasks include:
- Assessing vehicle damage
- Carrying out structural and cosmetic repairs
- Panel replacement
- Body alignment
- Refinishing surfaces to a professional standard

Main Responsibilities
As a Bodyshop Technician, your key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring safe and efficient vehicle repairs
- Creating and conducting risk assessments before work begins
- Executing repairs while balancing cost and time efficiency
- Maintaining public, colleague, and self-safety standards
- Completing required paperwork accurately and on time
- Performing repairs as instructed by your Foreman/Supervisor
- Reporting any vehicle or equipment changes to your Line Manager
- Supporting and developing apprentices and trainees
- Undertaking any additional assigned duties
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Body Shop Technician meeting the following criteria:
- Fully accredited (NVQ Level III or City & Guilds qualification)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience (preferably in a similar role)
- Strategic knowledge across multiple vehicle makes/models, including specialist fleet and commercial vehicles
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and risk assessments
- Full, clean driving licence
- Punctual, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high professional standards
- Actively collaborative, adhering to lean principles
- Willingness to mentor apprentices and trainees
Package Description
Colas offers a comprehensive compensation package including:
- Salary: £38,000–£42,000 (dependent on experience)
- Working hours: 40-hour weeks
- Availability: Overtime with time-and-a-half pay
- Pension: Up to 10% matched contributions via our Colas Pension Scheme

- Annual leave: 21 days + Public Holidays
