About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and diligent Finance Lead to join Project BOND on a fixed term contract. Project BOND replaces our core Back Office (BOS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems as well as introducing a new Retail Abstraction Layer. This role is pivotal in supporting the Finance workstream by collecting current-state processes, defining future-state solutions, and ensuring successful delivery of functionality that meets business needs, controls and standards. The role will act as a key interface between the Finance function (including FBT / BTC where the post holder will have responsibility for handling their workload and input to the project on a day to day basis) and multi-functional teams including Supply Chain, Trading/Convenience, Operations, Technology, and Tax to ensure a seamless transformation. The role holder will lead the design and embedding of the finance control environment. Ensure all processes meet internal control standards and are auditable. Lead engagement with internal audit and ensure evidence of design and operating effectiveness. Drive financial governance including budget control, approvals, change management and benefits tracking. Ensure RACI and decision frameworks are clearly defined and followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end finance process design (Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, Inventory, Cash) considering implications across functions finance, tax, legal
  • Own 'as-is' and 'to-be' process definition and standardisation
  • Embed financial controls and ensure audit readiness
  • Establish programme financial governance, including budget, forecasting and change control
  • Support and report on programme financials and benefits tracking
  • Act as Finance SPA and align partners across business and technology
  • Lead finance requirements and ensure integration into delivery lifecycle
  • Identify and mitigate financial and control risks

Process Mapping & Analysis

  • Support the documentation of and validation of “as-is” and “to-be” processes related to all finance related activities or areas that will have an impact on finance.
  • Identify problems and opportunities for improvement and streamlining of workflows.

Requirements Gathering & Documentation

  • Build comprehensive business requirements for finance, thinking end to end at all times and it’s impact on other elements in the wider bp group e.g. tax, legal entities, reporting etc.
  • Collaborate with partners to ensure functional and non-functional requirements are fully reflected in design documents.

Partner Engagement & Sign-off

  • Engage with key participants across Trading, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Technology and wider group bp entities to validate requirements and secure sign-off via regular 1-2-1s and additionally at PDA reviews.
  • Facilitate workshops and walkthroughs to align on business needs and solution capabilities with respective PDA LT member and support other business SMEs in conversations with their PDA LT member as and when required to support story telling from a finance standpoint.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Define and maintain detailed user acceptance criteria and test scripts.
  • Coordinate and support UAT activities across finance teams (including BTC, FBT and in country teams), ensuring timely defect resolution and traceability to business needs.

Pilot Execution & Readiness

  • Play a key role in pilot planning, criteria definition, and phased execution.
  • Monitor pilot performance, collect feedback, and recommend changes for wider rollout.
  • Ensure key manual processes/activities and tasks are brought together for Day 1 and there are responsible individuals who can complete these tasks.

Training & Change Communications

  • Work alongside internal teams (FBT, BTC and market teams) to co-create engaging training content and support materials.
  • Supply to the change communication plan to ensure smooth adoption by finance users.

Skills & Experience

  • Senior finance leader with at least 5+ years of retail and convenience business experience, transformation or ERP experience, with strong partner management and influencing skills
  • Good understanding of the finance processes and internal controls include AP, AR, Reporting and it’s wider impacts e.g. Tax, Legal entities, group reporting etc
  • Experience of bp systems, processes, controls and SOPs and knowledge of the e2e impacts
  • Able to effectively lead a ‘dotted line’ team in FBT/BTC and manage workload and focuses accordingly.
  • Comfortable engaging multi-functional interested parties and aligning diverse business needs into a single solution design.
  • Familiar with current systems and processes used within a convenience retail training environment.
  • Able to balance diligent tasks with critical thinking and process optimisation
  • Open-minded, proactive, and adaptable to new ways of working and system-led transformation.
