About The Role

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join a respected financial services organization. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic and growing group that provides investment management, wealth planning, and corporate advisory services. The successful candidate will support the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records across multiple group companies, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role is onsite in Basildon, Essex, and provides a platform for professional growth within a stable environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting, preferably with an AAT qualification or equivalent. Prior experience within financial services, investment management, or similar professional environments is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong working knowledge of accounting software such as Sage or IRIS. Essential qualities include excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to work. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are also important. A commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial record-keeping is fundamental for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily bookkeeping tasks including transaction recording, ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Manage purchase ledgers by inputting invoices, monitoring accounts payable mailboxes, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Prepare and process staff expenses and payments, including Amex reconciliations, to facilitate smooth financial operations.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations, regulatory returns, and audit preparation to ensure compliance with statutory and internal standards.
  • Support the production of financial statements and reports, providing accurate data for management review and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve financial processes.
  • Maintain organized and secure financial documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
