Job Title: Bookkeeper

Start Date: ASAP 2026
Salary: £28,000 to £35,000
Location: Office-Based Southeast London
Contact: info@pf-management.com
Reporting to: Manager

Job Purpose:

The Bookkeeper role is to ensure that all financial transactions are received, processed, and reconciled efficiently and transparently each month, in accordance with the company’s financial procedures and processes.
In addition, the Bookkeeper will support the Consultant, Internal and External Accountants with administrative duties in completing the year-end accounts and tax returns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take accounts to the Trial Balance.
  • Assist external and internal accountants with administrative duties to complete year-end accounts.
  • Support with personal tax returns for clients.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns.
  • Process small company payroll and facilitate payments (In-house training available).
  • Process payments for company payment runs.
  • Support management with various reports, including P & L, cash flow statements, budgets, and service charges.
  • Ensure budgets align with actual expenditure.
  • Project code and service charge reconciliation – reconcile, track new and existing project codes and service charge transactions, to ensure all income and expenditures are allocated correctly.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, deposit accounts, nominal codes, suspense account, inter-company account, and petty cash transactions.
  • Post purchase invoices, request approval, and file copies on the accounting system and or Google Drive.
  • Setting up new customers and suppliers accounts, issuing monthly sales invoices.
  • Events – reconcile event codes, issue a credit note to refund the hire deposit and provide updates to the events team.
  • Manage credit control by chasing debtors, creating payment plans and producing aged debtors’ reports.
  • Manage administrative duties, including responding to inquiries from clients, staff, HMRC, and suppliers via phone and email.
  • Prepare, present, and participate in Away days with clients and company meetings.
  • Complete ad hoc duties as required.

General Duties

  • Any other duties as required by the business to build relationships with new, existing, and potential clients and sourcing out new market opportunities through Marketing.
  • To ensure that all duties are conducted in accordance with HMRC and Companies House policies to maintain full compliance.

Person Specification

  • Bookkeeping/Accounting Qualification.
  • Software knowledge (Xero Advisor Certification preferred) and Presentation Skills.
  • An adaptive learner with a commitment to professional development.
  • Two to three years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • A very keen eye for detail.
  • An analytical person with the ability to recommend alternatives.
  • Approachable team player capable of collaborating with clients and staff.
  • Ability to prioritise and work with own initiatives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to liaise across all levels, including senior management and external partners.
  • Ability to present reports and provide recommendations.
