About The Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a respected financial services organization based in Basildon, Essex. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to contribute to a dynamic and growing group that specializes in investment management, wealth planning, and corporate advisory services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the finance team in daily operations, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting
  • Relevant qualifications such as AAT or equivalent certification
  • Prior experience within financial services, investment management, or similar professional environment
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage or IRIS
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bookkeeping tasks including recording transactions, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage purchase ledgers by inputting invoices, monitoring accounts payable mailboxes, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Prepare and process staff expenses and payments, including Amex reconciliations, to ensure proper financial documentation.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations, regulatory returns, and audit preparation to support compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Support the production of financial statements and management reports, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain organized financial records in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and regulatory changes that may impact financial reporting.
