Job Description
We’re currently recruiting for Full-time Bookmakers Clerks in the Newcastle Area.
This is an entry-level position, and we are keen for all staff to progress quickly. Therefore, training will be provided to ensure that confidence in all aspects of independently running a successful betting shop is achieved.
The Job
- Processing bets and assisting with customer queries
- Working as part of a team to assist the day-to-day running of the shop
- Building relationships with customers and making them feel at home by delivering excellent customer service
- Maintaining high shop standards
Our shop hours are Monday–Sunday, 9 am–9 pm, and contracted hours will be allocated on a weekly rota basis.
The Organisation
Toals is a family-run business, established in 1932 in Ballymena. Currently, there are 50+ shops across every county in Northern Ireland, and we offer a telephone betting service, which is available 7 days a week. We maintain our relationship with the local community by sponsoring the Co. Antrim FA.
About The Role

Essential
- Full UK clean driving license
- Good communicator
- Flexible - as our business operates 7 days a week
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Enthusiastic people person
- Reliable and hands-on team member
- Demonstrable IT skills
- Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role or previous experience with cash handling

Required Criteria
- GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Previous cash handling experience OR experience providing excellent customer care
- Full UK clean driving license
- Willingness to learn and develop in the role

- Demonstrable IT skills
